Review Year 2 Semester 2 Life

I chose the harder road. I took five subjects in this semester, so I will able to finish all 3 years subjects within the stated period. Company Law, Research Method, Human Resource Management, Operational Management and the additional subject, Managerial Economics. It was pretty challenging because I was not good in time management.

Nevertheless, I manage to finish all these subjects with a predictably best result in my university life. Too confident? The result will be revealed soon on 17 January 2014. It believe that it will be my happiest ‘result-reveal’ day. Inter alia (means ‘other than that'), I enjoyed my incredible timetable for this semester. At the end of semester, it proved that my decision was correct. Thanks for the help from lecturer.

I learned a lot when I was finishing all the assignments. The weight of assignment on the shoulder was getting heavier and some of the results did not equal to our hard work. We accepted the results because as long as we tried our best, results were just something that showing whether we reached the expectation of lecturer. Indeed, we felt our improvement in term of personality, attitude and maturity. That is the more important thing than result.

Other than academy side, I am happy with my progress in Toastmaster. I’ve already done six speeches and it is four more left to claim the award of ‘Competent Comminicator’ (a.k.a. CC, the first award after clear the first 10 speeches). In addition, I am walking out of my comfort zone as I keep challenging myself in the leadership. For example, I had held the position of Toastmaster of the Evening, Table Topic master, Table Topic Evaluator and Speech Evaluator. I still not dare to become a grammarian because the poorness of my English is simply not reaching the standard yet. I knew that I should do it to get more experience but I want to do it well for the first time, as people and I have a certain level of expectation to my performance. I will try more table topic at next year because it is a good platform to improve the speed of thinking and speaking spontaneously.

I was the president of Sunway CIS-ECA Scholarship Group, however, the group did not exist anymore. It is because of numerous reasons and I am not going to reveal it. There were many good memories among us, and we have organized successful event such as Reading Bus event, cycling event, appreciation dinner. The mixed feeling after every event was hard to describe in words because it was the combination of happy and sad. We felt sad when we were going to separate and leaving each other. Frankly, I was disappointing to myself. I knew this is a stage of learning but I simply can’t accept that I was that weak in leading a club and organizing event. Yes, everyone is saying that I have the quality to be a good leader, but I hope there is someone to guide or lead me to improve myself more because sometimes I really felt helpless. I need someone to push me. I need some new motivators to gain the confidence of a leader. I will find a way of it. I will.

There were some events with friends at this year. We went for the Scary Night at Sunway Lagoon on Halloween, ‘killing zombie’, birthday celebration of Khye Yang in Vivatel, surprised and unexpected birthday celebration with Ben, and no other than the MOST EXPENSIVE & ENJOYABLE SUBS GRANDBALL. There were still a lot of memories that I could not write in words because there was a lot of event! I am glad to have you guys be my friend. Really appreciate it. My university life will not be this colorful without you all.

Barcelona VS Malaysia 2013

Date: 10 Aug 2013

Venue: Stadium Shah Alam (changed from Bukit Jalil due to bad pitch condition)

We were supposed to sit at here! But we.....

Kai Mian and I reached the outside of the stadium at 1800. We were totally amazed by the crowd that already at outside of stadium. The match was going to start at 2045 but there were more than a quarter of people already. The queuing line was separated till more than 10 lines and the length of each queue were around 100m. FACT.

Here we are! The closest seats that we can find.

It was still only two hours before the match but you can see the crowds.

One hour before the match. 

This is the crowds at ONE HOUR before the match!

As you can see the time, it was one hour before.
But the right hand side of stadium was not that crowded.

We were supposed to sit at the tier 2 (middle role) but due to the venue changed, we able to sit at tier 1 (most front role) which cost RM288! *Our ticket price was RM208*. The benefit of sitting in front are we can see the player face at the clearly!

At first, our main coach, Rajagopal, walked around the pitch and greeted fans! Players of Malaysia came out from the player passageway for training after he finished his walking around the stadium. Pedro surprised all the fans because he ran around the stadium with companion of his fitness training coach. The fans were screaming for sometimes when they saw Pedro. I SAW HIM! I SAW HIS FACE CLEARLY! OMG! Sadly, our camera was not good enough to shoot clearer picture. I will remember the feeling and image as long as possible.

After this, there was bigger screaming inside the stadium because Barcelona’s players came out for training! Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar, Alex Sanchex, Pique, Mascherano, Dani Alves, Adriano, Jordi Alba, Fabregas… OMG! I can’t believe that I can see them in this distance! Although it is not a very close distance, I was able to their face clearly! Our own half fans were shouting ‘Iniesta’ when he came close to us.

The score was wrong!

During the match, I have seen the world class passing, control, possession, attack and defense of Barcelona, and spirit of Malaysia’s players! The feeling of watching live football match was awesome! I have seen the world class defense skills of Pique and Mascherano, and the 2012-2013 La Liga Champion player’s strong degree of physical. I can hear the sound of the ball when it were kicked or hit players! I think I would be lying in hospital after hit by the ball for one times! Before the first goal came, Mascherano could not mark our winger because he was too fast! It leaded to Malaysian have one of the best chances in this match when Norsharul one-on-one to Valdes. His shot was brilliantly saved by Valdes and the ball was hit the woodwork! What a waste!

Few minutes later, Fabregas scored the first goal. From the view of my seats, I saw him jumped up and headed the ball back to the net. We were shocked for this goal because I thought goalkeeper should be able to save the ball and keep his clean sheet for longer time. The crowd shout ‘goal!’ after his score like La Liga fans did. For me, the best moment of the match was Amri Yahya scored an equalizer goal against Barcelona! 1-1! It was a very beautiful goal and classic counter attack. It ended up with our player scored due to the mistake of Alba’s clearance. I think most of the fans were using all of their power to shout ‘GOAL!’ because I felt the stadium might be fallen due to the scream! For me, it was also the best moment in watching live football matches in stadium. Amri Yahya celebrated the goal in front of us with a ‘come on!’ pose!

However, happiness is always short for us. 3 minutes later, Neymar showed his wonderful dribbling and shooting skills to help Barcelona sit at the front place again. 2-1! The score board broadcasted the score wrongly for around 1 minute, which stated Malaysia 2-1 Barcelona. Organizer corrected the score board to Malaysia 1-2 Barcelona soon after realizing the mistake. This score remain the same until Pique, who was the captain after Xavi was substituted by Dos Santos, extended the lead of Barcelona to two goals at 75 minutes. Fabregas through passed to Pique, and then the Barcelona captain scored the goal after turned around between two Malaysia’s defenders inside the box. Malaysia 1-3 Barcelona! There were no more goals until full time. Barcelona won their last friendly match before the new season of La Liga start at next week.

During the match, the calmness of Xavi and Iniesta in controlling and passing were world class while Malaysian’s players defend actively. I also remembered the defense of Malaysian to Barcelona’s players were tactically strong because they would have 2-3 players marked the player who was holding the ball. They were 3 players marked and forced Sanchez from middle to left hand side of the box, and it ended up with the ball was out of the line. Fans who sat around me were laughed and impressed by the tactics of Malaysian players. Other than that, I hardly found any chance for Malaysian’s player won the heading when they versus Pique. He is freaking tall and physically was strong. Mascherano was physically strong and the spirit of him in this match was impressive too. I can easily imagine how strong the physical that Barclays Premier League player required after this two ex-BPL player’s performances. Barcelona uses the spaces of the field well as they fully utilized it when attacking. They always passed the ball from left to right in order to find the chance to score goals from Malaysian ‘All-out-defense’ strategy.

Start form the second half, fans always shouted the name of king, MESSI, because we wanted to see him to play on pitch. Unfortunately, he was in thigh injury and could not play for this game. Fabregas was one of the key players, as he played ‘fake 9’ role and contributed one goal and two assists. One of the fans wrote ‘COME BACK HOME, FABREGAS. ARSENAL IS YOUR HOME!’ on a paper and walk in front of me. I was so regretted for not taking the photo of him and the words on the paper! Furthermore, all of the fans also played ‘waves’ during first half of the match.

There was a ceremony for Barcelona players lifting up the trophy as celebration for their victory and as a gift for them to play with Malaysia. Unlike Manchester City players, who played with Malaysia to Bukit Jalil at last year, Barcelona player did not walked around the stadium to thank and greet fans after the match.

Overall, it was a good experience for me. I gained some experiences after attending two live football matches in different stadium in these two years. I would recommend fans not to purchase the expensive ticket if you have no chance to get closer with players. It is because I realized the only advantage of VIP fans were they can take photo to player when they were lifting the trophy but could not shake their hands or neither takes autographs from them.

到了大学上课三个月，发现这边的美女还真多，帅哥就比较少。看到一些蛮符合自己标准的女生，但都是学姐，不然就是其他科系的。无论在中学还是大学，这句话总是那么灵验——美女都在隔壁班。有一位让我心动的女生，都是同一届的学生，但我就是没敢去主动认识她。心想还是算了，这种东西，不强求，顺其自然吧。朋友们就不知为何帮我传绯闻，而且还传到她周遭的人都懂。我还是比较压抑，因为我自己都不懂发生了什么事情。=_=

独中生学会办了一个迎新晚会，我就在这天被团员们认识了。这最主要的原因是，我在玩一个游戏时输掉了，所以要在当众用屁股“写字”。纵使有千万个不愿意，我没法打退堂鼓，愿赌服输。与其说“写”，不如说是我跳了，我尽情地跳了。在跳的同时，我身后的笑声是足以震一座大楼。当然这是夸张的说法，但当我跳完然后转头的时候，有些人都笑得蹲下来了、有些还擦着眼中的泪水，接着大家都很齐心地喊ENCORE。我的朋友私底下问我，你是很享受哦？我当时的心情是非常矛盾的，都不知道应该开心还是害羞。LOL.
除了这些，五月是相对比较平淡的一个月，主要是因为这不是赶assignment的时期，也没很想那么快做复习。所以就这样吧。

六月
暂时撇开大学的生活。在外国读书的朋友回来了，我也办了一次聚会。每一次办聚会，人数已经不是重点。有时，人们出席的原因，除了因为时间上的问题，其他多半是因为在那有没有伴，或者和主办人的交情。所以，哪怕人数再少，我也会办下去。来几个，就几个。至少，我办了聚会，我问心无愧。以下是这次聚会的链接http://gerrardmook.blogspot.com/2012/06/gathering-with-s3-friends.html

距离考试还有一个月，我们理应在专心准备考试。但是，我们还要赶几份Assignment才能完全专心。很感谢中学的老师，把我的一些基础打得很稳，所以在某些科目上，我才能读得没那么吃力。我反倒是惊讶，中学Account的基础，竟然能很轻松的应付大学的科目，这是我始料未及的。在学长姐的“惊吓”下，我提早一个月就开始准备考试。这应该是我有史以来最早进行自己备考的一次。

考试+放松的七月

第一次的大学期终考。花了那么长的时间来准备，终于到了决战时刻的时候。全英文考试制，在我的学习生涯中还真算是头一遭。五科，我都尽量去把它考好。当时就心想，我已经尽力了，如果真的有不及格，那至少也无愧。

考完试后，就和大学朋友去了Penang玩。三天两夜，没什么逛景点，反倒是在那睡了蛮长的一段时间和吃。在那成了睡猪和吃货，还好有keep着做运动，不然就胖死了。在那边买回来的豆沙饼，最后就落在Sunway的Starbuck里，因为我忘记带回家。=\ 算了算了，因为我也没买很多，就当作是一次教训吧！

再来就是筹备学会的事情。九月就是活动了，我第一次在大学办的活动——带孤儿到双威动物园半日游。我庆幸的是，在中学里有过许多筹办活动的经验，才能在这压力和截然不同的环境里存活下来。在中学，我带领的是学弟学妹，而老师则在背后全力支持；在大学，带领的是学长学姐，而背后支持的则是同届的朋友，和几位学长。在筹办活动的时候，我领悟到，不是每个人都有义务帮忙你、哪怕是老师或者学长，他们也没必要一直来督促你。团队，是一个非常重要的X因素。若把它带好，那办起事来，就会事半功倍。反之，事倍功半。

假期+开学的八月
考完试，旅行也完了，这个月份大部分时间就是在家里耗时间了。在家里，看了一些剧集和节目。比如说 中国好声音。这类型的演唱节目，总是能深深吸引我。一方面除了想看最后的结果，当然也还有节目中的高低起伏，还有听好歌。我不得不说，中国真的有很多人材，很多好声音。有些时候，有些著名歌手的歌曲也是被选手们唱红，或者是把歌曲作出新的改编，让人觉得别有一番风味。这个链接只是初赛的阶段，若想听更多好声音，那就上网找找呗。;)   链接http://gerrardmook.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-voice.html

在这个八月，我也完成了在大学的第一篇演讲。这是我的学会的功课，这篇的题目叫做“Changes”，主要是述说我在中学6年的改变。以英文发音、没看稿、没超时，以及一个Standing Ovation，这对第一次演讲的我来说，是很不错了。下一次的演讲，我一定会说得更好。一定。

除了这个，还有和高三的朋友们办了一次级别聚会。这可是学校第一次让校友们在学校做出这样的聚会。这让我们非常荣欣，也珍惜这难得的机会。未来五年，咱们再来一次！

重要的九月

这个月，不得了啦！有两件很重要的大事。其中一件当然是我的生日，另外一件就是我在大学第一次办的活动。小孩到双威动物园半日游，虽然一切都安排好了，但还真的有很多突发状况发生。这些对我们都是一种考验，大家都从这里成长，从这里获得许多经验。让我比较压抑的是，这一群可爱诚实的小弟小妹，叫我的学哥姐做哥哥姐姐，看到我就叫我Uncle。（汗！）算了，总的来说，这次的活动成果是不错的。祝福这一班小孩的未来，前途无量。

接下来，就是俺的生日了。19岁啦，不再是二九年华的男生了。因为被小孩们叫成叔叔啦。（好吧，还是面对现实吧～）哦，对了！我还在大学遇到了一位同年同月同日出生的朋友，还真巧啊！和大学朋友们过了一个又是吃吃吃的庆祝party，然后拿到了四件很激励我减肥的衣服。好吧，谢谢大家的生日祝福和礼物。:)

机会难得的十月
第二个学期的测验和功课也开始了，大家都开始忙了。在这一段时间，我也参与了一个很有意义的活动。那就是和日本的同学交流以及带他们一游吉隆坡。一开始还以为能用英文和他们交流，但是在问候“How  are you?”后，我和宛洁就后悔了。这整天交流方式，就是用比手划脚的方式和Google Translate来进行。欲知更多详情，可到这个链接http://gerrardmook.blogspot.com/2012/10/visit-kl-with-japanese-students.html

这个月，因为一起复习的原因，认识了当初很想认识但都没敢认识的女生。这是不是所谓的，“打破铁鞋无觅处，得来全不费工夫”呢？复习就只是复习，从当初的不认识，到现在能一起复习，我不能再要求更多了。

十月份也开始了一个全新的计划，明年学会的活动。其实在这年不断的筹备活动，是让我知道领悟到很多人生的道理，和领导者的一些知识。感慨自己还太嫩了，还有很大的一段路要走，才能在社会立足啊。加油呗，肥莫。

专心复习的十一月

考试前的一个月，已经变成了“复习月”。只是到了第二个学期，我觉得前一个月才来做复习，是不足够的。自己没在上课时专心听课，在这一个月才来赶这四个月所教的一切，还真的挺有guts的。中学养成了群组学习的习惯，因为在互相教导的时候，自己能够学习跟多的同时，也能帮助他人。

“一个成功的领导人，不是自己能有多大的实力，而是能够帮助别人变得更好。”我忘了这句话是出自于谁，但我很喜欢这一句话，也觉得助人是很有意义的事情。也许因为这样，我认识了很多人，结下了很多缘，也帮助了自己不少。当然，我希望我能一直保持这样的习惯，不会变成卖鱼的人。其实中学都待在图书馆服务团里为他人服务，那种感觉，是很棒的的。人家的一句谢谢或者一个微笑，都会在我心里留下深刻的印象，也会令我感觉良好。保持下去，我会学习到更多，加油。

有史以来最压力的十二月

为什么是最压力的十二月呢？这是因为在我的生命里，这是我第一次在这个月份里有期终考这回事。第二次的大学期终考，也代表着我的第一年大学生活即将要结束了。考试完后，和朋友吃了顿晚餐，也去了一趟果园。这趟果园之行是比较迟了，所以榴莲也所剩无几了，反倒是还有一大堆红毛丹。Musthaq还是第一次吃榴莲啊，还好他能接受榴莲的味道，不然就可惜了！红毛丹则是采了很多袋，来者有份！看着大伙们一大袋地拿回家，心里还真开心。孟子曰，独乐乐不如众乐乐，大概就是这个意思了。

除了这个，也帮忙做了Sunway University Open Day的Student Helper。在中学养成的习惯，能够在大学应用，其实是蛮好的。在中学学习到的知识，能够应用在这种活动上，是对自己的一种肯定。因为，我认真学习过这种技能。做Tour Guide，其实就是在中学做了5年的辅导初一新生的工作嘛。

好啦，接下来就到了一年一度的圣诞节和跨年晚会。这两天的夜晚，我都待在家没出门。一来就是因为家人没有庆祝的习惯，二来是因为，我不喜欢在狂欢后的寂寞感。幸福的是，在今年的圣诞节，和一位特别的朋友出了门，逛了逛街。这还可算是我第一次的约会啊，呵呵。话说，在这次约会前，我还是做了很多research。其实我是蛮紧张的，因为这算是我的第一次啊。用了文字来记录当天的点滴，记录这难忘的一天。
好啦，现在距离2013，还有一个小时。祝大家在新的一年里，能更够突破自己，获得更好！祝，新年快乐。
